This year, our financial contribution and volunteering in partnership with The Felix Project helped rescue and distribute 17,200 meals to people in need across London.
How We Give
Each year, as a team, we choose the charities we support through our 1% for the Planet commitment. Through this initiative, we donate 1% of our annual turnover (not profit) to environmental and community-focused organisations. They keep us accountable through good and bad years of business, adding another dimension to our commitment to 'using business as a force for change'. It is putting our money where our mouth is to make a practical difference this year.
Watch how we got on.
With the cost-of-living crisis in the UK, as a team, we felt passionate about supporting vulnerable people in our local area.
A staggering 1 in 4 working Londoners struggle to afford to feed their families. Meanwhile, our food industry generates 3 million tonnes of good, edible surplus food each year. The Felix Project gathers surplus food from across the UK and redistributes it to London food charities, schools and community organisations, providing healthy meals for the most vulnerable.
We couldn't talk about our giving without mucking in, learning more and donating some time. So, we went to the warehouse in Poplar to volunteer for the day. We had the BEST time! Volunteering in Poplar made the impact feel tangible - local food redistributed to local communities, just a short distance from our Clerkenwell workshop.
We spent most of the day getting into the rhythm of unpacking and relabelling food boxes and then picking and packing lists for churches, schools and food banks that support their communities. The food was combined, wrapped and then loaded into Felix's vans to distribute. Getting to work with the friendly team and seeing the difference even a small amount of time made to distribution left us all smiling.

This experience has been wonderfully rewarding for us as a team and a business. We have watched how selling beautiful things that we lovingly craft, can have a positive impact on the people who need it most. We talk a lot about using business as a force for change, and we couldn't miss an opportunity to share how we are making that happen.
