THE BESPOKE PROCESS

01

Book a complimentary appointment with one of our team to talk through your ideas. We’ll explore designs together, look at pieces for inspiration, and begin shaping something that feels truly personal.

It’s helpful to have an idea of your budget and timeline ahead of your visit.

02

Select from our curated collection of ethically sourced gemstones, or allow us to source something uniquely suited to you through our personalised stone sourcing service.

This service is £100, fully redeemable against the final piece.

03

Once your design has been agreed, we can create a CAD drawing or a wax model of your piece, helping you to clearly visualise the final result before it’s made.

The cost of a CAD is £350, which is deducted from the final price of your piece.

04

With the design finalised, one of our master goldsmiths will begin handcrafting your piece in our Exmouth Market workshop, using recycled gold or platinum and responsibly sourced gemstones.

This stage typically takes 5 - 6 weeks.

05

The final step - and our favourite moment.

Join us in-store to collect your finished piece, carefully checked by our goldsmiths to ensure it is exactly as it should be. You’ll also receive a complimentary valuation for your records.

You’re always welcome to return for professional cleaning and care, so your piece continues to look its best.

FAQ

If you can't find an answer to your questions please contact us
1

How much does a bespoke engagement ring cost?

Typically, our bespoke engagement rings start from £4,000, with your final price shaped by the design, metal, and gemstones you choose.

We always encourage you to have a price range in mind before you come in. We will tailor the design to suit you.

For other commissions, we will happily discuss starting prices with you, as these will vary depending on your vision.

Please note: since precious metal prices change, our quotes are valid for 4 weeks, and we’re always here to update you.

2

Is the jewellery you make ethical?

Considering the planet and minimising our impact on it is at the core of E.C.One.

We are B Corp certified and members of 1% For The Planet, donating 1% of our sales to environmental causes.

Our pieces are made in our on-site workshop using Single Mine origin (SMO) or recycled gold and platinum. Alongside this, we carefully source our gemstones and conflict-free diamonds from responsible partners.

There is always more to do, and as a company, we constantly look for ways to reduce our environmental footprint.

3

Can I use my own loose gemstone?

We love helping you re-imagine inherited jewellery. However, we generally do not work with loose gemstones or diamonds that were purchased elsewhere.

4

How long does it take to have an engagement ring made?

8-12 weeks for an engagement ring, depending on your design. We’ll guide you every step of the way.

Here’s an example of the steps:

  • In your first appointment, we talk about inspiration and gemstones. We follow this up with an initial quote.
  • Once you’re happy to move forward, we’ll source a selection of gemstones for you to view.

A £100 deposit allows us to bring in stones and show examples of past designs to help refine your ring.

  • With the design agreed, we create a CAD drawing of your ring for £350 so you can see it from all angles.
  • Once you are happy and any necessary tweaks have been made, we produce a 3D model for you to see and check the details before we create your piece in gold or platinum.
  • Once approved, we request a 50% deposit, and one of our goldsmiths begins making your ring in our Exmouth Market workshop.
  • The Big Reveal: with your new piece of jewellery ready, you can either collect in-store, or we can securely ship it to you. We provide a free valuation, and you are always welcome to come and see us anytime for cleaning and care.

For wedding and commitment bands, please allow 6-8 weeks.

If you have a shorter time frame do chat to us and we will always help wherever we can.

5

Where is your jewellery made?

All E.C.One jewellery is crafted in our B Corp-certified workshop. Our goldsmiths exclusively use Single Mine Origin (SMO) gold, post-consumer recycled gold, platinum, and silver. We ensure that all diamonds are conflict-free.

6

Do you work with customers remotely?

Yes, we do.  We can work with you via phone, email and Zoom. During the process, we can share CAD designs and videos of gemstones, and send resins to you. When the final piece is ready, we can arrange shipment within the UK or overseas.

7

Do you welcome LGBTQ+ couples?

Yes, we love to welcome all couples who'd like to celebrate with a piece of jewellery from E.C.One.

8

How long does it take to make a bespoke piece of jewellery?

Once your design has been finalised, our team will lovingly craft your piece in 5-6 weeks. We kindly ask that you allow 8 - 12 weeks in total, depending on the complexity of your design or the number of appointments needed.

9

Do you remodel inherited jewellery?

Yes, we love to breathe new life into pieces you no longer wear. Simply make an appointment to come in with your jewellery, and we can discuss your ideas. (see our Remodelling page here)

10

Can I bring in a loose gemstone to use in a bespoke piece?

We re-model inherited jewellery but do not use loose stones provided by customers.

11

Do you repair jewellery?

We can repair jewellery made from gold, platinum, and silver, but not from base metals. Our services include ring resizing, re-tipping, chain repairs, and the replacement of precious stones. Please drop off any items, and we will inform you if we can repair your piece. (see our Repairs page here)
