Fashion Revolution Week is held on the anniversary of the Rana Plaza factory collapse, which killed 1138 people and injured many more in April 2013. That is the day Fashion Revolution was born. During this week, brands and producers are encouraged to respond with the hashtag #imadeyourclothes or #imadeyourjewellery to demonstrate transparency in their supply chain.
As a company, we recognise the jewellery industry needs to get better at being transparent and honest about where materials come from, who has been affected by this and what damage has been done to the environment.
No one can be in any doubt that the world is under huge environmental and social strain thanks to unsustainable business models and heavy reliance on natural resources. We need to make changes now to protect the planet for future generations. We believe this change will come if everyone does their bit. Here at EC One, we need to take responsibility for our actions and do what we can do to make a difference. We are committed to making jewellery from recycled or fairtrade gold, ethically sourced stones and wherever possible traceable and man-made diamonds. With our own jewellery being made in our Clerkenwell store we are able to be more transparent about our supply chain and are working towards this being fully traceable.
