I met William Cheshire in his basement studio on Hatton Wall so I could show you “behind the scenes”. Low, steel beams criss-cross the ceiling, the side wall is stylishly splattered with paint and lined with glass display cases. The jewellery pieces inside are clean cut, highly polished and elegant yet. A drum kit sits between two work benches gathering dust. The workspace was originally a used for drying tobacco leaves for Old Holborn; his jewellery hits the same note, hanging between opulence and razor-sharp cool.

William Cheshire trained in design and draws inspiration from the punk attitude, its penchant for free thinking and “for carefully orchestrated destruction”. William’s Libertine collection is stocked at both EC One stores and online. “The perfume bottle pendants resemble little poison bottles,” he says. “They remind me of eastern promise and naughtiness,” he laughs. “The little chains on the Silver Libertine Earrings reference to safety pins.”

It is William’s attention to form which has won him designer maker awards and attracts both men and women to his jewellery collections. All of his jewellery is made in London, its finish is exquisite and the cost is obtainable.
