Our History

EC One was established in 1997 by husband and wife team Jos and Alison Skeates. As a goldsmith, Jos had an extensive making background and a passion for jewellery design, while Alison's eye for style led her perfectly into her role as buyer.

We love what we do here and take real pride in the work we show. So many of our customers are loyal and have been with us for years. Many pop in for a chat when they are passing or schedule regular visits to see what's new.  Most start with small pieces as treat to selves, then they bring along friends, boyfriends... For many we have made engagement and wedding rings, then celebration rings on the birth of their children. Seeing our customers grow, change and leave the stores smiling really makes the hard work worth it all.' For Jos and Alison, EC One means so much more than making sales.

From the beginning, part of Jos and Alison's vision has been to source fashion-led pieces from around the world. 'We have always stocked designers that we know, and only have two rules 1. We like the jewellery and 2. It's well made'. This eye for detail is evident in-store at EC One, and in every aspect of Jos and Alison's work. 'Bringing a customer's dream design to life means everything to them, so we do what we can, even if it means travelling across the world to get the right stone'.

Jos and Alison's eye for detail and design means that EC One stocks core collections from over 40 UK and international jewellers, meaning there's something for everyone. Regular trips to international jewellery fairs inform their decisions each season, ensuring EC One remains at the forefront of upcoming trends and talent in jewellery design.
