Having previously won two awards for “Best for Fashion” , in 2011 EC One was recognised in a new category at the prestigious UK Jewellery Awards. The “Boutique Retailer of the Year” award recognises small, independent shops with a particular talent for supporting new designers and being at the forefront of the sector.

The independent panel of  judges were particularly impressed with our range of designers and careful selection of pieces to suit our customer: one judge commented “they certainly have an eye for designers”, while another praised EC One for “sticking to their individuality”. Upon receiving the award, co-owners Jos and Alison Skeates credited the hard work of the EC One team as key to their success.

Inspiring Independents

Joint First Place

The Inspiring Independents initiative recognises truly outstanding independent jewellery retailers, with the winners are chosen by other members of the industry. Hosted by Retail Jeweller Magazine, this is a collection of the 50 most inspiring independent jewellers, as chosen by their fellow retailers. A shop might be considered outstanding because of beautiful store design, clever marketing, brilliant product choice, or impecabble customer service – having come joint first, EC One has demonstrated it has all these qualities.
Launched last year, the Inspiring Independents list has increased from 30 to 50, to reflect growing interest. Retail Jeweller editor Laura McCreddie said: “It is amazing to see the industry getting behind this initiative. We had a record number of votes this year and because it is a peer-voted it really means a lot to those who make the list.”

Hot 100

Featured

Professional Jeweller magazine’s Hot 100 is an award recognising 100 individuals working in the UK jewellery industry  for having shown “true innovation” and having “driven their businesses, and so the industry, forward over the past 12 months”. Co-owners Alison and Jos Skeates were featured in the “Retail Stars” section of the feature, and attended a glittering champagne reception to celebrate.

Professional Jeweller commented: “With another busy year under their belts, Jos and Alison Skeates’ two EC One stores in London continue to provide an exciting selection of jewellery and marketing initiatives that have won them new customers.” The magazine particularly noted our pioneering the use of ethical gold, the launch of our Unsigned competition, and our Seven Deadly Sins party, celebrating the launch of Stephen Webster’s new collection.

The Great Little shop Awards

Winner

In December 2011, EC One was chosen as London’s Best Women’s Boutique at The London Magazine Great Little Shop Awards, hosted in the Burlington Arcade in Picadilly. The competition was fierce, and we were up against some of the best in fashion including Dover Street Market and Charlotte Olympia. The award was presented by Belle Robinson, co-owner of Jigsaw and major voice in the British fashion industry. Goldsmith and co-owner of EC One  was thrilled: “This award adds the finishing touch to what has been a remarkable year for us.”
